New year, "new" resolution ???

Every new year, the same pattern: for a couple of weeks, it is fashionable to say "Happy New Year" 50 times a day. And don't you dare forget the rules:
  • do not forget anyone
  • do not say it twice to the same person... it's rude!
  • Smile... and mean it please...
  • if you have an email address, type "Happy New Year" and click "send to all"
  • if you have a cell phone,... ditto
How many of those "Happy New Year" do you really mean? I'm not talking about those said to your loved ones, or friends... I'm talking about those you say to other people: to your colleague who stabbed you in the back 1 week prior... To your neighbour who always rails at you because you wake him up with your shower at 7 a.m.... To the clerk at the post-office who closes his counter after you've been waiting for 10 minutes (or was it 15?)...

I've never liked hypocrisy but as most of you, I must play by these social rules. However, and I don't know why, I'm pretty unsociable this year. (Ahh... you've noticed too!)

So after having been asked 10 times today "what resolution did you make for 2012?" After answering 9 times: "None" and getting the "Really??? ... you're sure? "... I can now say that I have one for 2012: to stop being hypocritical.

And like all new years' resolutions, such as... to stop smoking or to do 10 push-ups every morning (what is "new" about those by the way?), mine will last 10 days at most.
And that's the fun about it, isn't it?

  1. Oh snap! My stalker? You're in my head. I was thinking on posting something bout Resolution and then my eReader crashed and I have to reload 1300 unread books back onto it and well :throws arms up: Just fawkety fawk fak fawk. :snorts:

I do digress to agreeing with everything you've said and then some. Who really makes and keeps a Resolution these days. Mine? Oooh prolly to make it another year would be all in the cards for me.

See, I'm psychic and already know what my year is gonna be like. Believe me? :snicker, snicker, snort, snort:

  3. You'll make another year and more (I'm psychic too) ;)
And how do you manage 1300 books to read?? I can hardly manage 300. I symphatize.

I'm also waiting for your post about Resolution...

  4. But...but... You already did the post instead. What part of erm yeah know? Didn't you understand?

As for that amount of books it's easy. You keep buying and buying and wind up buying more than you can read and then you read some and new ones come out so you buy those and read those before the older ones you already bought and :deep breath: Well you get the idea or do you want the shorter version? I can fully accommodate my stalker if'n she so wishes it.

  5. Sid between you and me I don't know who has the bigger pile of books waiting to be read. I've got 100's of books I have read and still more to read and I haven't even begun on my TRB list on GR. Baby steps for me from now on makes it that much easier when I don't reach my goal of reading 50 books or so every months.

Natsroshan....I don't think to many these days stick to resolutions because they don't know if they can I guess? It's kind of hard to think about when I've made about three that I couldn't or didn't complete in the last two years. I keep making them though and hope for the best.

Some I think just are a bit unrealiztic when made. Or to steep of a price when made. Other than that there are at least a few people who stick to them and get them done.

  6. Hell, I should be band from all bookstores and from my bookclub *giggles* It's easy for me to drop a few hundred on books alone. But I sympathize with everyone on the amount of books that a person can have. Me, I'm going to simply have a floor to celing library that will house all of my books. I'll also need one of those ladders to reach the top shelves *giggles* Enjoy a good read everyone :)
