Steel Dragon

The songs are mint the movie is even hotter which revolves around rock in the 80's. I own the movie and can't get enough watching it. Gotta love those dudes with their long hair, tight spandex or leather pants which accentuate their arse that you just want to lick and drool over. I'm an 80's lover that's been there and done that. Dated rockers myself and there's nooo regrets. :winks:

The band's formation on-screen included the talents of four musicians and had actors playing the role of the lead singers, who actually were dubbed by vocalists Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, Journey) and Michael Matijevic during their performances, except for Myles Kennedy, who did the actual singing himself during his brief scene during the movie.

Additional musicians helped compose and perform the songs:
Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne) - Guitarist "Ghode"
Jeff Pilson (Dio, Foreigner, Dokken) - Bassist "Jörgen"
Jason Bonham (Bonham, Foreigner, Led Zeppelin) - Drummer "A.C."
Jason Flemyng (Actor) - Lead singer "Bobby Beers"
Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, Journey, Axel Rudi Pell) - Lead vocals for "Bobby Beers"
Mark Wahlberg (Actor) - Lead singer "Chris 'Izzy' Cole"
Miljenko Matijevic (Steelheart) - Lead vocals for "Chris 'Izzy' Cole"
Dominic West (Actor) - Guitarist "Kirk Cuddy"

Def Leppard for Sunshine and one more...

I'm spotlighting this group today for Sunshine. He liked one of the songs I posted not that long ago to Ivan, but I want him to know there's many many more good ones from that group I believe he'd like just as much. This is a way back play back for me. It's one of the groups I idolized when I was in high school. There's so many and personally I like every one of their songs, but I'll post the ones I like best.

So here's Def Lep for you, Blondie.

The Goodbye song goes specially out to Ivan. That one's for you, mon coeur.

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Now this band I don't believe is widely known and don't get enough credit on the music circuit. The band was started by childhood friends Ronnie Winter and Duke Kitchens in an AP music theory class which they shared in 2001. They were both in other bands, covering songs in the vein of Blink 182 and MxPx. After members from Duke and Ronnie's other bands (Dishonest and The Recovery) joined them, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was officially formed in 2003. The name 'Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' was chosen by the band voting for random words they threw up on a wall.

Brain Crunch

Today I officially started my one week of holidays. First one of the year and it's going to shit in an egg basket. First I went into work yesterday and wasn't there more than 2hrs and sent home feeling worse than I had the last few days prior. I've come down with the doozie of colds and I'll be honest and sum it up to neglect and not taking care of myself. A few good friends said I need a keeper and they're right. I'll fess up and say I honestly do. I haven't been getting the required sleep and food has turned me off with my never ending nerves and worry over others so I haven't consumed much if anything. Maybe the odd soup. But it didn't help that others were coming in to work sick when they themselves should have kept their ass home. Better yet is I've been in such a daze that I realize I've been fawking up on taking my meds. I have 3 a day and missed taking one one day and the next day I screwed up the order in taking them. Not only did I screw it up I missed taking one again. It's no wonder I woke up really late today and feel the earth moving like it wants to suck me into it's bowels. I think I'm on the proper path today :snickers: At least I hope I am.

That was only part of what I wanted to talk about today. I received a message from my friend telling me he's doing awright and for me to stop worrying. How can I stop worrying I asked myself. I've been frantic for days thinking about only him. Is it pathetic that you when you are in bed at night you're clutching your phone in one hand in case you get an email or text message and don't want to miss it? If it is than I am the pathetic one. I can come across as a cold, unemotional person if you don't know me and many think I'm a snob till they get to know me, but I'm very emotional and the most caring person you'll find once you've gotten to know me. My friendship is loyal and knows no bounds on being devoted to that person.

I never said who my friend was in all the previous posts that has had me in knots for the last week, but I will today. He's spoken of me on his blog, but I haven't on mine. My reasons would be to keep his privacy and I have a sense of obligation and the need to protect him from... Everything. Everything and anything that might hurt him. I love this man with all my heart. We have the same likes, dislikes and it's uncanny how much we think alike. We've known each other for just over 6mths now, but I feel like we've known each other forever. I like to yank that we must have been joined to the hip and we twins in a past life. It's my belief that when people connect very closely that there was or had to be something between them in a past life or lives for them to connect with one another in this life and our souls are reborn we pass on.

Don't get me wrong in what I'm saying. I'm not saying our connection is some love affair. My friend has the love of his life and that man is the most perfect person he could have ever found. I've learned that over the course of the last week. He's an exception partner and to have one like him one days that cares so much I'd be more than blessed to have. Ours is a 'friendship' that has no boundaries and it's endless.

Anyhow, I can't wait for his return so we can take up where we left off and enjoy each others time and company. I really do miss him so much that it's driving me bat-shit with loneliness and you can bet I'll be hear waiting for him.

So... my soulmate friend, Ivan, this song is dedicated to you and know when we meet again... I'LL BE...

Boys Don't Cry

Based on actual events, director Kimberly Peirce's powerful, often harrowing drama stars Hilary Swank (in an Oscar-winning performance) as Brandon Teena, a transgender young man searching for love and acceptance in a small Midwestern town. But even as he forges a deep connection with local beauty Lana (Chloë Sevigny), the prejudices of the community threaten to doom the fledgling romance.

Warning: Full of spoilers. This is a complete review and critique of my views on this film. Read at your own risk.

I just finished watching this flick and I have to say not only did it destroy me emotionally, but I was appalled to realize how close to home this flick felt for me.

This story basically centers around Brandon, born a woman, but a man in every way from the way he feels to the way he thinks and sees himself. I say HE because you connect with him in that manner. His goal in life was to go through with the complete sex change operation that would complete him and obliterate any gender confusion. They don't show this, but it's told how at one point you figure out for a short time Brandon was committed to a psyche ward as being crazy for being who he is. This is not shown in the movie.

In this case Brandon is ran out of town by homophobes although he is to appear in court for car theft. In another town, to him another life he tries to make friends and fit it. There he finds understanding and love by one woman that falls in love with him, but that soon winds up short lived and the ending is no HEA. It's shattering and will bring you to feeling crestfallen and in tears. To say I'm currently distraught is after viewing the film is an understatement.

Being transgendered myself I was able to connect with Brandon on more than a spiritual, soul searching level. You might think to yourselves what's the difference? Let me tell you something: Being gay, lesbian you might think that it's no different than being Transgen, but that's where you're wrong. Gay is a man/man, being lesbian is woman/woman, being transgen you are fawked up and you are trying not only to go through life being accepted, but also coping with who you are. Gay and Lesbians are born to enjoy and prefer their same sex, and this is not to put them down because I complete support and stand by my brethren, allies and friends from my GBLT community, but they don't have the problem of being born in the wrong body and and trying to figure out who you really are. Are you male or are you a female? Should it even matter other than accepting us just for who we are, the way we are no questions asked? Are we gay? Are we Lesbian? Are we all Bi? The rational was to view this would be if we had been born in the body we felt right being in and dating the proper sex wouldn't that result is us being straight? Hmmm Now that's food for thought.

I'm no longer going to hide who I really am. I had in the past and trusted someone with this information only to have it used against me. This person who I thought supported the GBLT community was not who she said she was and I was made to think of myself as lesser of a person than who I am. I refused to allow them the upper hand and wind up in the same place that Brandon ended up in.

Anyhow check out this movie if you will, but be warned it's not for the faint of heart and I hope it helps those that are still not understanding what being a transgen is and still accept us into this world and be able to still call us/me a friend.

Everyone's ManEveryone's Man by Edward Kendrick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was an easy, light read for me. Nice casual story of a whore and a cop, but hadn't started out that way which led me think it would be the whore and the doc at first but takes quite the turn and twist later on in the story. The whole idea on the plot as it thickens and how it pans out is brilliant and well written even though I'm one to like action and drama and a little more added would have be a bonus feature. A few more pages is all I would have been contented with.

The author for those who are sensitive to reading certain material contained in a story handled this to perfection. We basically got the vivid picture of what happened to Colin without get the full Monty word for word of what events actually took place leading up to the traumatizing rape. I can highly appreciate that.

Throughout the story I had come to really feeling the connection between Marc the doc and Colin and thought Bill was going to get the boot, but it turned out he settled with Dane the cop in the aftermath. I wish I could have felt the connection between both men and I believe I would have had they had more time in each others company and not just a few days. What I'd like to see is another book in order that i may establish just that between them and finally connect both men as a great couple that was meant to be.

All in all good story and I enjoyed it.

So... let's hope for a second book shall we? :winks:

Rougaroux Social Club: Bayou Dreams by Lynn Lorenz

Rougaroux Social Club: Bayou DreamsRougaroux Social Club: Bayou Dreams by Lynn Lorenz

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lynn really pulled me in with this one. Fan-fawking-tabulous story in my opinion.

This wasn't one of those stories of love at first sight, but rather the attraction was instantly there for both men, one sided for the most part since the Scott couldn't accept the fact that his mate was a gay man and he'd be straight all his life. He believed his Mamman's voodoo was contributed to the attraction that led the men to each other. There was no jumping into each others pants right away either with all the I love you's after a day that sometimes made you want to gag. There's a chase and the chase was on with both men coming to accept certain issues that they each harbored in their own way.

As these stories go there's always potential for other creations in the mix when new characters appear and I really hope after reading this book that Lynn doesn't disappoint and pursues this to give us readers satisfaction.
